Scientist/ Senior Scientist, Sample Preparation, Spatial
We are looking for an exceptional scientist to drive new research and product development efforts in our Sample Preparation department.
The ideal candidate will have a solid knowledge in histology (including tissue embedding), molecular biology, and microscopy.
He/she should be driven by building innovative, robust and truly enabling products and enjoy working in a truly multi-disciplinary environment. The successful candidate in this position will interact closely with colleagues in computational biology, software, chemistry, and microfluidics.
Conceive and develop and novel tissue preparation strategies for downstream molecular biology applications, including but not limited to snap-frozen tissue, FFPE tissue, and hydrogel-embedded tissue.
Design and execute assays for analyzing the performance of tissue prep methods using molecular biology and microscopy techniques (e.g. immunofluorescence or in situ hybridization)
Plan and perform systematic workflow and protocol optimization, in close collaboration with synthetic chemistry, molecular biology and computational biology teams
Contribute tissue biology and pathology expertise and leadership to cross-disciplinary product teams
Required Skills and Background:
PhD or MD/PhD with a minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience in academia and/or industry. Bioengineering, chemistry, biochemistry, pathology, molecular biology, or a related field.
Proven and deep knowledge in histology or novel tissue analysis methods, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, published patents, or commercialized products
Microscopy skills including multiplex antibody hybridization
Familiarity with data analysis
Strong organizational skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment
Desire to build game-changing technologies and impact the world of life science research
Desired Skills and Background:
Experience with tissue arrays
Experience with next-generation sequencing
