How can you expedite your drug discovery efforts?

Olivia Habern

From April 30 to May 13, 2020, hear from top researchers in a weekly webinar series as they discuss how 10x Genomics technologies are transforming the drug discovery and development process. Their presentations will cover topics including patient immunotherapy response, new methods streamlining antibody discovery, and optimizing single cell workflows for clinical research samples.

Whether searching for novel biomarkers, exploring the complex therapeutic mechanisms underlying established treatments, or evaluating how therapies can be deployed to minimize resistance, pharmaceutical and biotech companies are increasingly harnessing single cell solutions from 10x Genomics to advance our understanding of biology and disease. Now, with the high resolution and scale that single cell analysis provides, they can identify and sustain a pipeline of novel targets and accelerate key promising assets through development. Learn how single cell analysis is revolutionizing pharmaceutical research in our Pharma Webinar Series.

Optimizing preparation of clinical samples for immune cell profiling

When working with precious clinical samples, skilfull sample preparation is essential for improving cell viability and ensuring high-quality data. Conversely, improper sample preparation during single cell transcriptomic workflows can result in loss of precious samples and produce substandard results. In this webinar on May 13, 2020, “An optimized workflow for single-cell transcriptomics and repertoire profiling of purified lymphocytes from clinical samples,” Dr. Richa Hanamsagar, PhD, Senior Scientist, Sanofi, will discuss her recent publication on sample preparation protocols specifically designed to overcome this variability. Dr. Hanamsagar will explain how to make the most of your clinical samples, explore various sample preparation techniques on previously cryopreserved whole peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), offer recommendations for the best cell-enrichment protocols for B and T cells, and guide you through the process of preparing high-quality samples that will yield the best results in your single cell studies. Accelerating antibody discovery

In his presentation on May 6, 2020, “Revolutionizing antibody discovery for pharma with single cell approaches and LIBRA-seq,” Dr. Wyatt McDonnell, PhD, Computational Immunologist at 10x Genomics, will teach you how to accelerate your antibody discovery program using LIBRA-seq, an approach recently described in a publication by researchers at Vanderbilt University. In this approach, individual B-cell receptors are mapped to specific antigens by capturing and linking native antibody and DNA-barcoded antigen sequences for thousands of single cells. This allows researchers to efficiently identify genuinely antigen-specific antibodies within the human antibody repertoire. Dr. McDonnell will show you how LIBRA-seq, in conjunction with the Chromium Single Cell Immune Profiling Solution with Feature Barcode technology, enables the capture and analysis of thousands of B cells at single cell resolution, empowering the rapid and cost-effective discovery of thousands of high-quality antibody candidates. Evaluating clinical response to cancer immunotherapy

Even after the identification of antibodies and the development of treatments, further study is needed. What are the mechanisms driving treatment response? What factors determine treatment efficacy? Why do patients respond differently to treatment? Questions like these are key in advancing drug discovery and development and improving existing therapies. In his webinar on April 30, 2020, “Peripheral T cell expansion predicts tumour infiltration and clinical response,” Dr. Thomas Wu, MD, PhD, Principal Scientist in Bioinformatics & Computational Biology at Genentech, will present his research examining patient response to anti-PDL1 therapy. Though immune checkpoint blockade has been widely presumed to reverse exhaustion in chronically stimulated T cells, Dr. Wu and his team found that exhausted T cells are actually replenished with fresh, non-exhausted replacement cells from sites outside the tumour. Their findings propose an alternate mechanism of action for immune checkpoint blockade therapies, and may help explain variability in patient response to cancer immunotherapy. Further, clonotypic expansion of T cells in the peripheral blood may serve as a predictor of clinical response to immune checkpoint blockade. Register today →
