1. Strategic Coordination Session

A one-hour kickoff meeting with you, 10x Genomics, and your automation vendor. Together, we’ll discuss your project goals, which may include identifying preliminary hardware and software needs, the scope of the 10x assay you’re automating, and intended sample input and validation preferences.

2. Automation & Validation Documentation

We will provide our documentation package customized to your specific platform, instrumentation, and workflow. This includes a validation plan and automation guidance tailored to your setup.

3. Remote Development & Optimization Support Sessions

One-on-one remote sessions with a 10x specialist to work through the details of your automation. Topics can include:

  • Method architecture and workflow design
  • Hardware requirements: e.g., tip types, labware compatibility, deck configuration
  • Identification of sources of technical risk or variability during method transfer
  • Safe stopping points and intermediate hold conditions within the automated protocol
  • Liquid handling parameters: e.g., aspiration/dispense volumes, mixing parameters, reagent transfer conditions
  • Assay-specific quality metrics: e.g., cell recovery rates, reagent volumes, incubation durations, DNA fragment length distributions
  • Quality control thresholds for your chosen 10x platform and assay

Guidance provided during these sessions reflects 10x’s expert recommendations but does not guarantee specific performance outcomes.

4. On-Site Field Application Scientist (FAS) Support

A 10x FAS will come to your lab for up to 8 hours per day to support your automation work in person. To make the most of these visits, you’ll need to:

  • Arrange lab access and complete any site access or safety requirements
  • Have all required reagents and consumables on hand (these are not provided by 10x as part of the visit and must be purchased separately)
  • Ensure your automation platform is up and running before the visit

On-site support is subject to scheduling availability. Responsibility for instrument operation and experimental outcomes remains with your team.

5. Final Data Review Commentary

After you share your post-sequencing data with us, we’ll provide a written review of the results. Contents will address observed assay outcomes, such as:

  • Median numbers of genes and/or transcripts detected per cell
  • Observed evidence of batch effects or technical variation
  • Cell population composition and general clustering patterns
