Atera Tissue List

Atera Tissue List

List of human FFPE and fresh frozen tissue types that were validated in-house with Atera Gene Expression. Atera Gene Expression success depends on sample quality and tissue cell type composition. Tissues tested in-house were acquired from biobanks, organ donation, and recovery agencies. All tissues listed below were processed per our standard documentation following the Atera Gene Expression - FFPE Tissue Preparation Handbook (CG001671) and the Atera Gene Expression - Fresh Frozen Tissue Preparation Handbook (CG001670).

Some tissues were tested with multiple tissue states. Example datasets can be found here.

TissueDisease statePrimary DiagnosisImportant Considerations*
Tonsil (FFPE)DiseasedChronic Tonsillitis
Lymph node (FFPE)Diseased / non-diseasedDiffuse Large B cell Lymphoma, Follicular Lymphoma
Breast (FFPE, FF)DiseasedIDC triple positive / negative, Invasive ductal carcinoma, Infiltrating lobular carcinomaRecommend using only SchottH or Tissue adhesion slides for both Atera Select and WTA
Colon (FFPE, FF)DiseasedAdenocarcinomaRecommend using only SchottH or Tissue adhesion slides for both Atera Select and WTA
Appendix (FFPE)Non-diseased
Lung (FFPE, FF)DiseasedNSCLC, NAT
Testis (FFPE)Diseased / non-diseasedMixed germ cell tumor
Kidney (FFPE)DiseasedRCC
Kidney (FFPE, FF)Non-diseased
Skin (FFPE, FF)Diseased / non-diseasedMelanomaEven though skin can be prone to detachment, recommend following the User Guide as written for decrosslinking conditions.
Do you have recommendations for sectioning skin for Atera?
Recommend using only SchottH or Tissue adhesion slides for both Atera Select and WTA
Liver (FFPE)Diseased / non-diseasedHepatocellular carcinoma
Ovary (FFPE, FF)DiseasedSerous carcinoma
Spleen (FFPE)DiseasedInflammation
Pancreas (FFPE)Non-diseased
Prostate (FFPE)DiseasedAdenocarcinoma
Brain (FFPE)DiseasedGlioblastoma
Brain (FF)Non-diseasedCerebellum, Hippocampus
Heart (FFPE)Non-diseased

Additional considerations related to detachment of different tissue types on tested slides can be found in: How were recommended slides for the Atera assay evaluated?
