Billing

This page describes current pricing and billing policies for 10x Genomics Cloud Analysis. All pricing and use of 10x Genomics Cloud Analysis remain subject to the 10x Genomics Cloud Services Terms.

Important Changes Effective July 8, 2025: We're updating our pricing structure to better support growing usage. Key changes include a monthly limit of 50 free analyses per account, and new pricing for paid analyses based on input size. Paid analyses will also have immediate billing for storage and downloads. Learn more about what's changing.

Free usage limits are provided for 10x Genomics datasets. Starting July 8, 2025, you can run analyses for free within two concurrent limits: 5 analyses per dataset AND 50 analyses per calendar month across all datasets. When you exceed either of these limits, pay only for what you use with no upfront commitment.

Important
Paid transactions above free limits are only available in the United States and Canada. See Usage outside the U.S. and Canada.

Effective July 8, 2025, we're making the following changes to our pricing structure:

New Monthly Analysis Limit

  • Before: Unlimited free analyses per month (only limited by 5 per dataset)
  • After: Maximum of 50 free analyses per calendar month across all datasets
  • Impact: You hit whichever limit comes first: 5 per dataset OR 50 per month

Updated Paid Analysis Pricing

  • Small analyses (under 200GB input): $5.00 (unchanged)
  • Large analyses (200GB+ input): $5.00 + $0.02 per GB (new pricing tier)

Examples:

  • 300GB analysis: $5.00 + (300 x $0.02) = $11.00
  • 500GB analysis: $5.00 + (500 x $0.02) = $15.00

Immediate Billing for Paid Analyses Outputs

  • Before: Paid analyses included 90 days free storage + 150% free downloads
  • After: Paid analyses are billed immediately for storage and downloads
  • Free analyses: Continue to receive 90 days free storage + 150% free downloads

Free Analysis Limits (effective July 8, 2025): There are two concurrent free analysis limits:

  • 5 analyses per dataset: Each uploaded dataset can be used up to 5 times as input to analysis pipelines for free
  • 50 analyses per month: Maximum of 50 analyses per calendar month across all datasets in your account

Both limits apply simultaneously. For example, if you've already run 5 analyses on a specific dataset, additional analyses with that dataset will be paid even if you haven't reached the 50-per-month limit.

Paid Analyses: When you exceed either free limit, you'll be charged:

  • $5.00 per analysis with inputs under 200GB
  • $5.00 + $0.02 per GB for analyses with inputs 200GB or larger

The transaction is finalized when the analysis pipeline successfully finishes. Failed or cancelled analyses will not incur costs or count towards your free analyses.

Data that is uploaded to be processed by analysis pipelines is stored at no cost for 90 days. Custom reference files are stored at no cost for 365 days. After reaching these no cost storage limits, the data will be automatically deleted unless you opt-in to paid storage.

Free Analyses: For free analyses (within your monthly and per-dataset limits), data is stored at no cost for 90 days.

After reaching the free storage limits, data will be automatically deleted unless you opt-in to paid storage. We will send you an email notification 10 days before data expires and is permanently deleted from your account. Deleted data may be temporarily stored in our archives but 10x Genomics does not guarantee retrieval of deleted data. There is no action required if you choose not to store your data past the free storage period on Cloud Analysis.

If you would like to opt-in to ongoing data storage for FASTQ files or analysis outputs, visit the Data Storage settings page from within a project. If you would like to opt-in to ongoing data storage for custom reference files, visit the Data Storage settings page for custom references. From there, you can opt-in to ongoing paid storage at $0.02 per GB per month. For free analyses, you will only be charged to store data that is outside the free storage period.

Paid Analyses (effective July 8, 2025): For paid analyses (when you exceed either limit), storage charges begin immediately upon successful completion at $0.02 per GB per month. Paid analyses do not include a free storage period.

Important
To stop ongoing storage costs for a paid analysis, download your data and delete the analysis from the Analyses tab on the relevant project page.

Storage costs will be included on your monthly invoice. You can turn off paid data storage for a project or custom reference at any time. If you turn off paid data storage during a billing cycle, you will only be billed for the portion of the month that your data was stored.

Free Analyses: For free analyses (within your monthly and per-dataset limits), output files come with generous free downloads. Output files can be freely downloaded up to 150% the total size of the output files. For example, if an analysis generates 100GB of data, you can download 150GB worth of data for that analysis at no cost.

Paid Analyses (effective July 8, 2025): For paid analyses (when you exceed either limit), download charges apply immediately at $0.10 per GB downloaded. Paid analyses do not include free downloads.

FASTQ file downloads: FASTQ files uploaded to your account can be downloaded once for free, regardless of whether they were used in free or paid analyses.

Custom reference downloads: Each custom reference directory is compressed before upload and stored as a single compressed tar archive file (.tar.gz). Each custom reference tar archive can be downloaded once for free.

You will incur usage-based download charges of $0.10 per GB for any downloads exceeding the free amounts described above (for free analyses only) or for all downloads from paid analyses. Before initiating a paid download, you will have the chance to confirm the transaction and see an estimated cost. Costs displayed in Cloud Analysis are estimates based on the size of the data selected for download. The actual cost will depend on your download usage. After confirming the transaction, Cloud Analysis will generate download links for the files selected for download by which you can initiate the download. Initiating a download creates the transaction. For example, if you generate a download link for a file, and that link is used three times, the actual cost will be calculated as 3x the single file size. If you generate a download link and do not use it to initiate any downloads, no charge will be incurred.

Once you have generated download links they will remain active for 12 hours. You will be charged for all downloads using your download links — please store the links securely and do not share these download links with others unless you plan to accept charges for downloads that they initiate using your links.

Some input and output files for each analysis, listed below, are stored at no cost and are not subject to storage limits or time restrictions. These "free forever" files can be downloaded as many times as you need, regardless of whether the analysis was free or paid.

  • We are unable to offer paid services outside of the United States and Canada. However, Cloud Analysis provides free limits that allow all users to process data on a per-sample basis.
  • As described in Pricing, there is no limit to the number of 10x Genomics datasets that can be uploaded. For each dataset, users can perform up to five analyses for free. Additionally, there is a limit of 50 free analyses per calendar month across all datasets. Users can store free analysis outputs for up to 90 days and download all outputs within free usage limits.
  • When using Cloud Analysis from outside the U.S. and Canada, remember to download your data within 90 days, as extended storage is not available. You can opt-in for email notifications to remind you before your data expires. By downloading your data timely, you can continue to use Cloud Analysis for each dataset at no additional cost.

Usage beyond what's included for free will be billed monthly. A billing cycle is 30 days and begins on the first day of every calendar month in UTC. Your actual costs will depend on your usage of the services.

You can sign up to pay automatically by card or manually via monthly email invoices. Visit your Account Billing page to sign up: https://cloud.10xgenomics.com/account/billing. Payments and payment information are processed by Stripe, an online payment processing provider.
